If you ask the average Joe on the street if they believe in God, most will say they do, but some don’t.  If you ask the ones who say they believe IN God if they BELIEVE God, most all of them will say they do.  BUT DO THEY REALLY?  How can you know?  You can start by asking them WHY?  A few will say, “God cannot lie”.  And that is a correct answer, but here’s the test:  when the going gets rough and the devil is causing them all kinds of trouble, what are they doing?
Psalm 23:4 says, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

The key part of that verse is this:  I WILL FEAR NO EVIL.  Why not?  Because Thou art with me. But listen to them, what are they saying?  Are they telling everyone, “I just don’t know how I’m going to get through this mess”, or are they confessing the Word of God, and praising Him for delivering them from the problem?  Most everyone believes IN God, but not that many actually BELIEVE God.  One of the earliest records in the Bible of a person actually believing God was Abram, or later called Abraham.  It is recorded in Genesis 12:1-4,

Gen 12:1  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
Gen 12:2  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Gen 12:3  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Gen 12:4  So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

There is a HUGE difference between saying you “believe God”, and actually acting on it.  In verse 4, we see Abram obeyed God.  He wouldn’t have obeyed God had he not believed Him, and the promises God made to Him.  And yet, when most people are confronted with a test, they will shrink back from acting upon what is written in God’s Word.  It’s that attitude of “Yeah, I believe God, kind of….” that gets people in trouble every time.  Knowing that God cannot lie is a huge help to me, but many people SAY they believe God cannot lie, but they sure don’t ACT like it.

When my back has been against the wall with the devil closing in on me, I always remind myself, “God cannot lie…CANNOT LIE!” That has been drilled into my heart because of the many times God has been faithful to deliver me from evil.  I’m just a simple country boy, that when I read in the Bible, “God cannot lie”, I just assumed it is true and acted like it.  You know, that’s all God wants you to do, just believe Him.  He will take it from there.  You don’t have to figure out how God is going to deliver you from your problem.  That isn’t your job, it’s GOD’S job.  And He doesn’t need your suggestions as to how He can make it happen.  For every solution you have for your problem, God has ten thousand, and you can bet He won’t use YOURS, and that assures He will get the glory, and not you.

I’ve ministered in healing for many years now, and have accumulated a lot of knowledge about healing.  But the most important thing I ever learned was what I picked up in the first five minutes of my relationship with Him: God cannot lie.  So with that in mind, whatsoever the problem is, there is a promise, a solution in the Bible.  I look it up and tell the LORD, yes, this is my problem and here’s what You say about it.  And I speak those verses and remind God of His promises.  I believe God is good for His Word, and have literally put my life in the hands of God many times and trusted Him to make good on His Word.  And He has, every time, because He isn’t a liar!

It is written in 1 John 5:14-15,
1Jn 5:14  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
1Jn 5:15  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

That is such a beautiful passage.  It is full of life for us.  All we have to do is find out if solving our problem is God’s will.  How do we do that?  Search His Word and see what He has to say about our particular situation.  What He says IS His will. Perhaps your problem is that you need healing for your body.  Is healing God’s will?   Most people will tell you that God will heal “if it is His will”.  Well, that can be a problem, because if that’s the case, what if it is God’s will to heal Joe, but not Alice?  You certainly don’t want to ask God to heal someone that isn’t supposed to be healed, do you?  But thank God, He made it easy for us to know His will concerning healing.  Jesus healed EVERY person who came to Him needing healing. He said He did nothing without His Father’s will.  In another place, He said “I and My Father are ONE”.  One mind, one will, one purpose.  Jesus NEVER had to stop and pray, “Father, if it is your will, heal this person.” No, Jesus KNEW it is always His Father’s will to heal, so He healed all who asked.

There is not a single instance in all of God’s Word of Jesus refusing to heal anyone. So when you need healing, just ask. And when you do, BELIEVE you have what you have asked of Him.  When do you have it?  when you believe, and not a moment before.  Yes, even when you KNOW God’s will is to heal, you still have to BELIEVE it.  Believing He CAN is not enough.  You must also know He is WILLING.
Let’s have a look at Mark 1:40:

Mar 1:40  And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Mar 1:41  And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
Mar 1:42  And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

This leper knew Jesus COULD heal him, but didn’t know if He was WILLING to heal him.  And that’s a huge problem yet today, many if not most believe He CAN, but when it comes right down to it, most of the time they don’t believe He WILL.  Why IS that?  Well, most of the time it’s feelings of guilt that people have.  Maybe they feel like they haven’t prayed enough, maybe they haven’t loved the LORD as much as they should, maybe they haven’t done what they know they should.

Your own conscience is a powerful thing: it can keep you from ever receiving your healing if you let it.  Many people confess their sins to God, but somehow just don’t believe they are truly forgiven.  So, they don’t feel WORTHY that God should heal them.  Well, if you’ve asked God to forgive you, then you ARE forgiven, for it is written in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Did you see that?  “HE IS FAITHFUL….”  You can believe His Word, for He has NEVER lied, nor will He ever.

That leper’s life was changed because of the compassion of Jesus.  His touch didn’t heal the leper, but rather His WORDS!   I WILL! Jesus cancelled the leper’s doubt with those two words I WILL. And you must let those same two words cancel YOUR doubts about healing. Jesus is just as willing to heal you today as He was to heal the sick two thousand years ago. His compassion moves Him to heal the sick, not what they have or haven’t done.  Do you think Jesus healed any sinners back then?  Sure He did.  He wasn’t concerned if they were sinners, He loved them, one and all.

One day, a Samaritan woman asked Jesus to heal her daughter.  She was a sinner, one who had no fellowship with God, and was not heir to the promises of God, a stranger to the covenants of God, no hope of salvation.  In the game of Monopoly, her situation was like “go straight to hell, do not pass GO, do not collect $200.   Here, let’s read it:

Mat 15:21  Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
Mat 15:22  And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
Mat 15:23  But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
Mat 15:24  But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Mat 15:25  Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
Mat 15:26  But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
Mat 15:27  And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
Mat 15:28  Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

That woman heard about what Jesus was doing and BELIEVED and ACTED upon that belief, and went to Him, and got what she needed from Him, though He even as much as called her a DOG, yet she would not give up!  She believed Jesus was the Healer, and she was not about to walk away without having her daughter healed.  And Jesus marveled at her great faith. Jesus will ALWAYS honor the one who believes Him. YOUR healing is as close as your heart and mouth.  Believe in your heart and speak it with your mouth, and it is YOURS.   It’s time to put your excuses away why you can’t believe God, because there IS no excuse. God cannot lie.

Do YOU believe God?
