This Sunday the “Christian” world celebrates “Easter”.  Do you know what “easter” really celebrates?  It celebrates the abomination of pagan gods, the goddess of fertility, symbolized by a bunny, and eggs, thus we have Easter egg hunts and colored eggs and chocolate rabbits, and all that goes with the tradition handed down to us from generations ago.  And it has NOTHING to do with the resurrection of Christ Jesus.  But like most of you, as a child I looked forward to the treats and candies and pretty eggs given to me on Easter Sunday.  I continued to celebrate Easter in that manner out of ignorance into my adulthood, ignorant to the fact that it was an outright abomination to God.  And some of you do, too.  Some of you don’t even care that it is an abomination to God to celebrate Easter, because you’ve been doing it a long time, and that’s just the way it is.  But some of you, like me, want to please God, and so I’m writing this so you may know the truth.
Here is what the Holy Bible says about the resurrection of Christ Jesus, we will use Luke 24 as our referrence:
1  Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
2  And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
3  And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
4  And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
5  And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
6  He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7  Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
8  And they remembered his words,
9  And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

You will notice there was nothing mentioned of finding the Easter bunny in the empty tomb, nor were there any Easter eggs left behind.  All this “Easter” stuff came later, as missionaries were trying to convert pagans to Christianity, and their “Easter” celebration was close to the time of the resurrection of Jesus, so to appeal to the pagans, they combined the two events.  And it stuck.  Did that make it holy and right?  Well, God doesn’t seem to think so, and if He doesn’t like it, then we should get away from it, that is, if we want to please God instead of men.

I know lots of Christians who do the Easter thing, and see nothing wrong with it at all.  Like I said, I myself did it for years out of ignorance, not defiance to God, but plain old ignorance, until someone told me to look up the roots of the Easter celebration, and I did.  Boy, was I shocked!  Here I thought I was honoring the resurrection of Christ Jesus!  I felt so bad, knowing I had been celebrating a pagan practice, albeit out of ignorance.  But unintended sin is still sin, and I had to deeply repent before the LORD and ask Him to forgive me.  Of course, He did, and now that I know the truth, I celebrate the RESURRECTION OF CHRIST JESUS, not Easter.  We have become so steeped in tradition, that many of my friends still rebuke me to this day concerning this.  Well, I’m going to please God, even if I lose every friend on earth, His love is more precious to me than anything else.  All I’m saying to you is, SEARCH IT OUT FOR YOURSELF.  If knowing the truth is important to you, you’ll want to know the facts.  And if the traditions of men is more important to you than pleasing God, then don’t.  I mean no offence to anyone by this.  But isn’t your soul worth finding out the TRUTH?

Christ Jesus was in the grave three days and three nights, as it says in the scriptures, not just part of it, and He used this firm example of Jonah in the whale’s belly:
Jonah 1: 17  Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
Matt 12: 38  Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
39  But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40  For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

According to the Hebrew Holy Day calendar, Christ Jesus would have been crucified on Passover about 3pm, when the Passover Lamb was slain, and put in the grave on Wednesday before sunset.  Now here is where people get confused, because we use the ROMAN calendar where days begin and end at MIDNIGHT.  The Hebrews use SUNSET as the end and beginning of a new day.  So, allow me to explain the timeline: God counts days in Genesis as “the evening and the morning were the _____ day.”

Wednesday afternoon, Christ Jesus was crucified.  He was placed in the grave BEFORE SUNSET.  Wednesday night was the first night in the grave. But also keep in mind,  the sunset began THURSDAY according to the Hebrew calendar.  Thursday at about 3pm was the first 24 hour period of Jesus’ death.
Thursday just before sunset till Friday just before sunset was the second 24 hour period Jesus was in the grave.
Friday just before sunset till Saturday just before sunset was the third 24 hour period Jesus was in the grave.  Jesus arose from the dead sometime after sunset SATURDAY, THE SABBATH.

When Mary came early “ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK” (Sunday) morning to the tomb, Jesus had ALREADY RISEN.
And so, Christ Jesus fulfilled all prophecy about Himself by being sacrificed as the perfect Lamb of God without sin, spent three days and three nights in the grave, and rose from the dead after 72 hours in the grave to be our PERFECT SAVIOR !  Praise God for His mercy!

So please, don’t insult God’s plan of salvation by including an Easter celebration.  Now you know the truth about Easter.  And you know the truth of the Resurrection of Christ Jesus. What will your decision be?  Christ Jesus lives!
