There are at any given time thousands of people believing God for a miracle.  For some it may be in the area of finances, for others healing, for others peace in their home.  It doesn’t matter what kind of miracle you need from God, there is one key that is common to all, and that is consistency.  First, let’s define “consistent”; possessing firmness or coherence, marked by harmony, regularity, or steady continuity: free from variation or contradiction, marked by agreement. Consistent also means showing steady conformity to character, belief, or custom, tending to be close to the true value of the parameter estimated as the sample becomes large.  In a nutshell it means doing the same thing time after time without variation.
I have a few old watches that I’ve collected over the years, and the key to their accuracy is the balance wheel making the same exact motion without variation, hour after hour, day after day.  The slightest degree of error in that movement translates to inaccuracy of the watch.  The best watches are adjusted to temperature ranging from 8, 23, and 38 degrees Celsius, and in six different positions.  There are of course some tiny variations in accuracy between the temperatures and what position the watch is placed in, but at the end of the testing period the overall accuracy is within a very few seconds over several days, because the manufacturing tolerances have been held to so tightly, that error is extremely small.  Now THAT’S consistency!
So….how does that relate to YOUR situation?  We can take a good lesson from watches.  Think about your situation right now, let’s suppose you believe God for healing for your body.  How consistent are you being in what you do?  I have been consistent in teaching you to keep your words lined up with the Word of God, not to mix faith with doubt and unbelief.  Suppose yesterday you were confessing, By the stripes of Jesus I am healed.  That is an absolutely true confession, straight from the Bible.  Is it true because you said it, or because GOD said it?  Well, actually, it’s true because God said it, but it’s true for YOU because YOU said it.  You see, when you apply the truth of God’s Word to your life, YOU enjoy the benefits thereof.
But today?  Well, the pain came back and hit you and you said, Well, I THOUGHT I was healed by the stripes of Jesus, but maybe I’m not really.  Maybe it was all in my head.  Do you know what you just did?  You became inconsistent.  Picture yourself out in a boat in the middle of the lake, and your boat has some water in it.  You’re using a bucket to bail the water out of the boat, ok, so far so good, you got almost all the water out, so you can go back to rowing for a while.  A little more water comes into the boat. No big deal, you have a bucket, right?  But suppose as you are bailing the boat out, you start doing it differently: for every three buckets of water you throw out, you take a bucket of water out of the lake and throw back in the boat.  Or maybe for every two buckets you throw out, you throw three back in.  You say, THAT’S STUPID, I WOULDN’T DO THAT!   You wouldn’t? Oh, but you HAVE been, if you are speaking according to the Word of God one time, and another time you’re speaking the problem or speaking that God’s Word isn’t working.
You see, the key to making God’s Word work in your life is CONSISTENCY.  You can’t speak faith one day and doubt and unbelief the next day and expect the results you want from God.  For one thing, God is not the source of your problem; the devil is the one who is the source of sickness.  So when you’re speaking the devil’s words over your life, you’re getting the devil’s results.  Is that what you really want?  Two things never change: God is always good, and the devil is always bad.  God’s Word NEVER comes back void.  Let’s read what it says in Isaiah 55:11, So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.   The question that must be asked here is; what are YOU doing with the Word of God, are you sending it to accomplish something, or are you sending it down a dead-end alley to accomplish nothing?  If you use His Word to attack sickness, you’re agreeing with God and you can expect the Word to do that for you which God sent it to accomplish.  But if you’re in agreement with the devil part of the time, it’s like taking pure water and mingling food coloring with it.  I don’t care how carefully you go back and filter that water, it will still be colored, and it will never again be clear no matter what, for you have polluted it.  So it is with the Word of God, and so it will work as you have done to it.
If you want the Word of God to work as it was created to do, you MUST NOT mingle it with anything else, PERIOD!  Is it hard to be consistent with the Word of God when everything else is working contrary to you?  God never promised EASY.  He DID say HIS Word would not come back to Him void.  What about YOUR words?  They may well come back to you void, and in fact they WILL if you’re mixing doubt and unbelief with God’s Words.  There IS a way to see the Word of God work for you, and that is if you want it enough to consistently use it, without wavering, without variation, without doubt, without fear.  If you could ask a question to a watch and it could reply, you might ask, Aren’t you bored doing the same old thing over and over all the time?  It would say, No, that’s why I’m always on time.
Take a lesson from the workings of a fine watch; use God’s Word over and over and over, the same yesterday, today, and for so long as you live.  Don’t introduce variation into your consistency; else you will suffer for it.  And we don’t want that, do we?  One thing we can definitely say about God; He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  That’s consistency.  His Word always works for Him because He never changes.  His Word will also work for YOU if you will be as consistent as He is.  It’s your choice, and the LORD would have you choose wisely.
