Which is better, pushing the button on the remote to see a travel show, or going there and walking the place yourself? So it is with a walk with God. I could tell you how to walk with God or I can hand you the Bible and suggest you walk your OWN walk, which is far better. If you simply watch a movie of my walk with Jesus, you will only see what I saw. But if you walk your own walk with Him, you will see things which I did not see, which will give you more enjoyment. And besides, perhaps God wants you to see things that I don’t see so that he can use you in a way that he cannot use me.
For example, God uses me in the area of healing, and not everyone is called to that service.  That doesn’t mean healing is any more important than any other area that God calls someone to serve in.  God does not make any mistakes.  It simply means He has a specific purpose for each and every one of us, and what He anoints me to do, may not be what He will anoint YOU to do. He gives gifts and callings as HE wills, so as to build and nourish the Body of Christ.
One thing I’ve noticed through the years is that everyone wants to be healed of their sickness, yet they seem to come up with every reason in the world why God should NOT heal them.  Some doubt if it is God’s will to heal them.  I ask if they are seeking medical treatment.  Most say YES.  Then I ask them, If you doubt it is God’s will to heal you, then WHY are you assuming to go against God’s will and be healed?  Why not just stay sick? Right there, the light comes on for some people, but there are many skeptics, MANY.  It’s almost like they WANT to stay sick in order to prove something either to themselves, or to others, or to God.
The problem with that theory is that if God wanted people sick, then why did He create Adam and Eve without sickness?  Why did He send the Lord Jesus to HEAL the sick?  Have you ever given that any thought?  Sadly, there are many churches that teach it’s better to be sick and suffer, so you can be like Christ.  Let me set the record straight: Jesus came according to fulfill all the prophets said of Him. We can use Isaiah 53:1-6 for an example:
Isa 53:1  Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
Isa 53:2  For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
Isa 53:3  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isa 53:4  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:6  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Here are some others:
Psa 103:2  Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Psa 103:3  Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Mat_4:23  And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Mat_9:35  And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
To me, healing is simple because Jesus MADE it that way.  He even gave us specific directions to follow in order to be healed, like Mark 11:23-24.  He made it easy for me to understand so I could in turn teach others how easy it is to be healed.  It’s PEOPLE who try to make healing hard to receive, it isn’t God!  These are but a few of the scriptures I use concerning healing, and there are many more.  What is my secret to staying well?  It’s so simple I would have to work at it to miss it; I simply read the Word of God, believed it, settled it in my heart as truth, spoke it, and received it. And yet, people have such a hard time doing that, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out WHY?
Christ Jesus, the Son of God, took flesh upon himself in the form of a man, and went about doing His Father’s will, speaking the Father’s will, and representing His Father to the people.  He was the exact representation of his heavenly Father.  He said He only did and said what He saw the Father do.  He went on to say, I and my Father are One. Personally, that was easy for me to grasp, knowing God cannot lie.  Even though at the time I was dying of cancer, the Word of God said I was HEALED.  So, rather than listen to what my body was telling me, or what the doctor was telling me, I simply chose to believe God.  No rocket science there, right?  Plain and simple, believing God keeps His Word got deep into my spirit, and I’m well because of that.
Let’s get something straight here: God didn’t heal me because I deserved to be healed.  Actually, if anyone ever deserved to die and go straight to hell, it was me.  Yet, it is written in 2Peter_3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Simply stated, I asked the Lord Jesus to save me.  And I repented of my sins, period.  The icing on the cake was when He revealed to me that I was also HEALED!  And I’ve not had a sick day in all these nearly twenty years since!
Well, that’s a short version of MY walk with the Lord Jesus.  I can tell you how to find Jesus, and I can tell you how to get healed, but MY faith will not save you. Yours will, though!  You see, I can tell you of my walk with Jesus, but until YOU have walked your own walk with Him, you will never know how wonderful and loving He really is.  It’s sort of like looking at all the pretty pictures in a travel magazine.  The pictures are there because someone actually went there and took the pictures.  But the pictures only show a small sample of what’s really there.  To see the good stuff, you have to go there for yourself, and see it up close and personal.
The Lord Jesus is MY Lord and Savior, and I love serving Him daily. But MY walk with Him will be much different than YOUR walk with Him.  He will do wonderful things for you, through you, and with you, that I might never get to experience in my lifetime.  That’s why He is not just a “one size fits all Jesus”, but a PERSONAL Jesus. Just for YOU, that will fit your life PERFECTLY!   Make the Lord Jesus YOUR personal Jesus, and quit trying to build your relationship with Him on MY terms.  Sure, I can help show you the way, but don’t settle for pictures in a travel brochure.  Take your OWN walk with Him.  There’s nothing like personal experience to dispel “public opinion”.  Amen, and amen.
