Today is a new day, unlike any other in history. There has NEVER been a day just like today, and there never will be again, for each new day is unique. YOU are unique, and there has never been, or shall there ever be again, a person just like you. For someone wanting a new beginning, this is a match made in heaven. I hear so many say they wish they could break out of the mistakes of their past and just start over. Wish granted! Now, what are you going to do with it?
Today in the United States, a new President was just sworn in, we want a new beginning? We have it, right now, no more waiting. Some are bewailing it, and some are excited. Me? I’m excited, because I woke up this morning and my beloved wife was still there. I’m still in control of all my faculties, the LORD still loves me, and everything I need for a bright and wonderful future is here right now, within my grasp. Today is the beginning of the rest of our life, gone forever is “yesterday”, and no matter how much we long for the “good ole days”, we can either moan and groan about them, or make TODAY one of the good ole days we will look back to in the future. I choose to make TODAY something I will always cherish. And when tomorrow comes, I want to do the same thing again, for as many tomorrows as the LORD gives me. Part of the joy of my life is looking back and seeing how much the LORD has blessed me.
There are “half-empty cup” people, and there are “half-full cup” people, and everyone fits into one of those two categories. The “half-empty cup” people see everything from a negative attitude, that things just aren’t good enough. The “half-full cup” people rejoice because they started with a full cup, have enjoyed consuming half the cup already, and are going back for a refill when the cup is empty. I’m of the latter, thanking God for the super-abundance of blessings He has already given me, and knowing how much He loves me, I won’t have to stand in line long for a refill, and all the refills of the blessing cup are always overflowing, which means I always take my saucer so none of those blessings are wasted.
If your past has not measured up to what your dream is, I’m thankful it’s your PAST! Today is the PRESENT, which means it’s the gift God has given you, and you can make it what your dream is. Do you want to be rich and famous? Get a job, work hard, then give lots of what you have to those less fortunate. It is written in Proverbs 13:7,
There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
You see, you can’t outgive God. Picture yourself as a kitchen sink. The top is open, and you pour water into it. At the bottom is a drain. You can fill the sink with water for just so long, until it fills up, then either you have to open the drain, or you will make a big mess. The “drain” can be described two different ways. One is described by the Lord Jesus in John 10:10:
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Now, here’s the first “drain”: we can close our heart to giving, so we can “get”, and the thief (satan) will come and make your efforts frustration, waste, and destruction, so that no matter how hard you work, nothing ever “works out for you”, and even if you do seem to be getting ahead, it’s not joyful to you, but constant frustration.
Here’s the second “drain”: we can give abundantly as the LORD directs us. I have NEVER seen a sink with a drain as large as the sink, which means the way to fill the sink is much larger than the way to empty it. As we freely give to the needy, the LORD is ever filling the sink to capacity, and no matter how much you give out, the sink just stays full all the time, to the point that you no longer even are concerned about how much is going out.

You want a new beginning? Start giving, and if you’re already a giver, give more, not so you can “get”, but so you can live the blessing. I didn’t start this article to write about giving, but the LORD has led me there, so here it is. TODAY is the first day of the rest of your life. It is your opportunity to make a new beginning, to stop “living in the rut”, and change the course of your life forever. The past is gone, AND, if you have asked the LORD to forgive your sins, they ARE forgiven and forgotten. Don’t go fishing for them in the sea of God’s forgetfulness. That’s for someone reading this, take it, it’s FREE! Shake yourself loose from the hurts of the past, they aren’t helping you anyway, but are only stealing your ability to enjoy TODAY. Forgive, rejoice, give freely, and receive forgiveness , joy, and blessings freely.

Pull the stopper out of your sink right now, let out all the hurt, pain, disappointment, grudges, sludge and crap out of your life, and let the LORD refill your sink with His presence, where you will find peace and joy unspeakable. It’s a NEW BEGINNING, and you will never have the chance to make today a better day, for tomorrow it will be gone, and you will have missed your chance. Don’t arrive at tomorrow looking back and wishing you had made yesterday a wonderful day. There is no other day like today, never will be, either. It can be the best day you have ever lived so far, it’s fully your decision. The LORD has blessed this day for you, all you have ever hoped for is just waiting for you to reach out and take it, and make it a wonderful day. And you know what? You can have a free refill of that cup every day!
PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW! PRAISE HIM ALL CREATURES HERE BELOW! PRAISE HIM ALL OF YE HEAVENLY HOST! PRAISE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY GHOST!
And if you start each day doing that, look out, here come the blessings!
