It is written in Matthew 10:32-33, Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Several years ago I went to see a man whom the LORD told me was going to die soon. Well, he looked healthy enough, but nevertheless, I went and struck up a conversation with him, asking him, if he was saved. His answer? “I’ve never denied Christ.” I knew him somewhat, he drank, did drugs, swore a lot, and if he had ever asked Jesus to be his Savior, you could have fooled me. But his statement got me to thinking. And we ALL need to think about what he said.

I’ve never denied Christ”, to me would mean that if he were tortured for his testimony for Christ, that he would not deny Him. I can promise you that man had never been persecuted for his testimony for Christ, because he didn’t have one. But if Christ tugs on your heart to receive Him, you would receive Him, right? Well, you’d think so, but not everyone does. In fact, far too few do. I asked him if he would receive Jesus as LORD and Savior, but got no response. He dropped dead unexpectly of an aneurism just a couple days later. We never know how long we have left to live, and God was giving him another chance to be born again. As far as I know, he died without salvation.

What a waste of a soul. But that’s what can happen because we have “free will”. God will not send you to hell. But He will allow you to send yourself.

“Denying Christ” can be as simple as not acknowledging Him before men when you have the chance to do so. It’s like these people who are married and getting on dating sites. They may not lie and say they are single, they just simply “forget” to mention they are married. We who are born again are married unto Christ, and we are not our own. People should be able to tell we belong to Jesus, even if we don’t say so, by our very actions. But there are many “closet Christians” whom you cannot tell if they are saved or not. (they’re NOT). They have never won a lost soul to Jesus, or even have a burden for the lost and unsaved. They may have the “FOLLOW ME TO CHURCH” bumper sticker, but if you were to actually follow them, they don’t even go to church. Are they denying Christ? Yep.

But enough about “them”, how about YOU? Do YOU know Christ Jesus as your LORD and Savior? If so, are YOU an active witness for Christ Jesus, or are you denying Him? I’m not talking about someone asking you if you love Jesus, and you say NO! I’m saying that denying Christ goes much deeper than that. We have many opportunities each day to tell people about Jesus, and how He died and rose again to give them the free gift of salvation. But are we taking advantage of them?
Ever been in a long checkout line at Walmart? What an opportunity to tell someone that Jesus loves them.

You never know what that person is going through in their life, how that short sentence could breathe hope and life into them. If they turn away, they’re not rejecting you, they’re rejecting HIM, but at least you gave them the chance to make that choice. And if they’re open to your offer, you can lead them to Christ Jesus right there in the checkout line. But Walmart is not the only saving place, you know.

You acknowledged Christ before men, and He will acknowledge YOU before His Father in heaven. And when the time comes for you to stand before Him in eternity, that will be a GOOD THING for you. Many like to go to the Lake for the weekend to fish. But while you’re there, God is also offering you the chance to be a Fisher of Men. You can do both, you know. Wherever you are, you can be a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, no ordination or church license needed. Being “born again” qualifies you, not only for everlasting life, but the “benefits” of God as well.

You know me by now, how I harp on healing a lot. I tell a lot of people how God healed me of melanomas and liver cancer in 1993, with no treatments. Psalm 103:2-3 says, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases.” You’d be amazed how many people don’t know that Jesus wants to heal them. There are a whole lot of sick and suffering people out there, whom Jesus would love to heal, but He needs witnesses out there to tell them so. When people get healed by the LORD, that’s a powerful witness that usually brings them to salvation, too. By conveniently “forgetting” to tell others about Jesus, you’re denying Jesus before men, and helping the enemy keep them captive. You wouldn’t want that, would you? Then start taking advantage of all those opportunities to tell others that Jesus loves them. Do the job that Jesus saved you to do, and let the Holy Spirit do His job.

The Holy Spirit is your “HELPER”, but that doesn’t mean for you to sit on your lazy duff and leave the whole job for Him to do. Ask the LORD to give you a heart to win souls for Him. Make yourself available to be His witness, and ask Him to help you be at the right place at the right time with the right words, and you’ll be amazed how easy it is to confess the LORD before men. Will YOU be His witness?
